June 15, 2009 - Freshman sire Brookstone Bay got his first stakes winner on Saturday when Ivansbay romped to victory in the $129,420 TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity (RG2).
Ivansbay won the 350-yard race in :17.699. He is a black homebred gelding for Frank Cavazos, who also trained, and was ridden by jockey J.R. Ramirez. The gelding is the first foal out of the Strawfly Special mare Flyin Features, and has now won three of four starts and earned $53,368.
Brookstone Bay is an 8-year-old son of First Down Dash out of the Coup De Kas (TB) mare Le Ritz. The Grade 1-placed stallion won seven of 21 starts, including the 2004 First Down Dash Handicap (G3), and earned $184,769.
The stallion stands at JEH Stallion Station - New Mexico for a $2,000 fee.
